About

There is merit in never fully growing up. I’ve had the privilege of making spaces for children for most of my adulthood. That’s a good way to stay forever young. Whether it was giving Star Wars a home at FAO Schwarz; helping turn the first floor of Toys “R” Us into some sort of swirly space place in Times Square; or, at Scholastic, introducing New York City to the works of countless illustrators and authors through their windows on Broadway, I’ve always managed to do work that was fun, and nobody got hurt. Creating displays allowed me to experience stories dimensionally. It legitimized my expensive “hobby” (What would you call an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute these days?).

This whole while, I’ve been practicing—drawing, building, learning how to write. Now it’s time to share some of my own stories with the world. I hope you’ll come along on the ride.

After spending more than 20 years designing and constructing toy/bookstore environments in NYC, I have turned my attention to publishing. Along with my wife, artist/illustrator Mison Kim, I recently set up a publishing company, Dooleyglot Books, to produce a series of bilingual baby board books. We crowd-sourced and printed the first nine books of this series and released them just prior to the pandemic.
